ConcurSys is building a new layer 1 blockchain with unique architecture and use cases. Without sacrificing scalability, it uses a leaderless Casper CBC consensus protocol for maximal decentralization, while most other projects choose Leader-based protocols.
Our unique virtual machine design allows multiple EVM instances to run concurrently, meaning smart contract executions can switch from one transaction to another, with the non-deterministic execution recorded in concise format for other validators to replay. Other blockchains may apply parallel computing to allow many smart contracts to run in parallel, but unable to allow switching between contracts. This concurrency capability not only makes our platform scalable, but also suitable for data intensive as well as CPU intensive tasks. Because of this feature, our platform is not only a decentralized value network, but also a data network.
Another benefit of our virtual machine with programmable concurrency control is that cross-shard transactions can be made "transactional", i.e. ACID properties can be enforced upon the cross-shard transaction finalizations. In particular, atomic finalizations in cross-shard transactions can be achieved with various isolation levels at the user's choice, balancing between fees, latencies and isolation levels. This seamless and programmable cross-shard execution feature plays a key role in building a meaningful horizontal scalability solution.
